Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers about your next business phone system.

Considering a new phone system? Here are answers to common questions about switching providers, keeping your numbers, connecting your team, and getting support.

What is SS Telcom?

SSTelcom provides and manages cloud-hosted 3CX business phone systems for businesses throughout the United States. We help plan your system, install and configure it, coordinate your number transfer, and provide ongoing support.

Do you serve businesses outside Georgia?

Yes. We serve businesses nationwide, including companies with offices and employees in multiple states. Your location does not limit your access to our managed phone service and personal support.

Can we keep our existing telephone numbers?

In most cases, yes—including toll-free numbers. We confirm that your numbers can be transferred and coordinate the process with your current provider.

Keep your existing telephone service active until we confirm that the transfer is complete. Canceling it early can put your numbers at risk.

How do you handle the changeover?

We install and test your new system while your existing phone service remains operational. Once the new system is ready, we submit the number-transfer request and receive a confirmed transfer date.

We coordinate the changeover so your team knows what to expect and is ready to use the new system.

Will we need to change our internet provider?

No. SSTelcom works over a suitable internet connection from your existing provider. We review your connection and network to identify anything that needs attention before installation.

Can we change internet providers later?

Yes. Your SSTelcom phone service is independent of your internet provider.

If you move to fiber, find a better price, or choose another ISP, you can keep your SSTelcom phone system and business numbers. Let us know before the change so we can help check the new connection and any network settings.

What happens if our internet connection goes down?

Office phones need a working connection to reach the cloud-hosted system. If your primary connection fails, phones can reconnect through a suitable backup internet service when failover is properly configured.

Employees with configured 3CX mobile apps may also be able to make and receive business calls using cellular data, provided their mobile connection and the hosted phone service remain available.

We can help you plan how to handle calls during an outage.

Can our phones work over Starlink, T-Mobile, Verizon, or another backup connection?

Yes, provided the connection offers suitable performance and works with your network configuration.

We recommend testing the backup connection with your phone system before you need it. Connection quality, available capacity, and failover settings all affect the result.

Will an active call continue when the internet switches to backup?

An active call may drop during the changeover. Once the phones reconnect through the backup service, your team can resume making and receiving calls.

Backup internet helps restore service, but it should not be treated as a guarantee that every call will continue uninterrupted.

Is this suitable for a dispatch center?

Yes. We can configure call handling around dispatchers, office staff, field employees, and multiple locations.

For businesses that depend heavily on incoming calls, we also recommend discussing backup internet, power protection, and alternate call-routing arrangements as part of the installation plan.

Can employees use the phone system away from the office?

Yes. The 3CX mobile and desktop apps allow employees to make and receive business calls through a suitable internet connection.

Remote employees and staff in the field can remain part of your business phone system, with access to the calling features configured for their roles.

Do employees have to give customers their personal mobile numbers?

No. Employees can handle calls through the configured 3CX app using your business phone system. Customers can reach them through your business number instead of their personal mobile number.

Can several offices share one phone system?

Yes. We can connect offices and remote employees through one managed system.

Your locations can have their own numbers, greetings, and call routing while allowing colleagues to communicate and transfer calls between locations.

Can callers hear a greeting and choose a department?

Yes. We can configure an automated greeting that directs callers to the appropriate person, department, or group.

We can also set different routing for business hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Can several phones ring when a customer calls?

Yes. Call groups can ring several employees, helping your team share responsibility for answering incoming calls.

We will discuss how you want calls handled when employees are busy or unavailable.

Can we receive voicemail by email?

Yes. Voicemail can be delivered to the email address configured for the extension, allowing employees to access messages without being at their desk. Voice messages can be transcribed, and as you get them as an email, they are easily forwarded to the person responsible for responding.

Can we use our existing desk phones?

Possibly. We will check the make, model, condition, and compatibility of your current phones.

Some phones can be reused; others may need replacing. We will explain the options before you commit to new equipment.

What happens during a power outage?

Desk phones and local network equipment need power. A suitable battery backup can keep that equipment running for a period, but its runtime depends on the equipment and battery capacity.

Configured mobile apps provide another way to handle calls over cellular data. We can help you plan for both internet and power outages.

How much does a new phone system cost?

We prepare a proposal based on your users, locations, equipment, and service requirements.

The proposal explains recurring charges, installation and equipment costs, and the applicable service terms so you can understand the commitment before proceeding.

Who do we contact for help?

Contact SSTelcom for assistance with the phone system we manage.

We help with questions, troubleshooting, and changes such as adding employees, updating greetings, adjusting business hours, or changing where calls ring.
